I focus on systems that are fast, maintainable, and scalable. Design comes first, while AI agents handle most of the implementation—allowing rapid iteration without sacrificing control over infrastructure and performance.
For experienced self-employed developer, the winning stack is usually not the trendiest one. I have watched frameworks come and go — Backbone, Angular 1, Ember, Knockout, then React, Vue, Angular 2, Svelte. My skepticism isn't technophobia, it's pattern recognition.
Most of those frameworks solved problems I didn't have, introduced complexity I had to maintain and eventually got replaced anyway. At present era, learning curve is much lower though, since I can have AI do the coding. But I have to have some understanding of the code they create.
